Pregnancy yoga classes are specifically designed to support the physical and emotional changes occurring during pregnancy. Pregnancy yoga can alleviate common symptoms such as aches and pains, heartburn, nausea, oedema and tiredness. Pregnancy yoga will build strength, create energy but also enable total, blissful relaxation. Prepare mentally and physically for birth and the journey into parenthood. It is recommended that pregnant women do at least 150mins per week of exercise suitable for pregnancy and not to start a new exercise regime, including pregnancy yoga until after your first antenatal check up, around fourteen weeks.
Tuesday's 7pm - 8.15pm via zoom Drop in £10 per class / 10-week block £75 Any remaining classes from a block post birth can be transferred towards the postnatal course or for general yoga classes.
Spending quality time with your baby is your utmost priority right now which is why postnatal Pilates classes are designed to include babies at this precious time. Connect with other mums and babies while regaining strength and fitness in an enjoyable way. Postnatal classes are more Pilates based than yoga and tailored to your current needs and goals. Changes in the body happen over the duration of pregnancy, but, sometimes new mums can feel under pressure to get back into shape soon after birth. General exercise, especially high impact, or dieting are not conducive at this time. however, realigning the skeletal structure and bringing the muscles back to their former or increased strength can be very helpful in safely and appropriately achieving a faster recovery and avoiding future complications. We can address complications such as Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction (SPD), Diastases Symphysis Pubis (DSP), Diastasis Recti (DR) back pain, shoulder tightness/pain etc. For Mum's from 6 weeks postpartum (8-10 weeks after cesarean) Courses are currently via zoom Wednesday's 11am - 12.15pm
During my recent BSc (Hons) in Sports & Exercise Science I conducted my research dissertation on the efficacy of exercise in improving the symptoms of pregnancy related pelvic pain, which is not uncommon in pregnancy. The exercise intervention was found to be very effective in reducing symptoms, creating pelvic stability and building a strong core post-birth with or without SPD symptoms. The exercises used are extremely beneficial postpartum or at any stage of life where you feel the need to strengthen core and postural muscles.
